Mr. Yanik moved to California with his family, back in 1983 from a small town in Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh, to Rancho Cucamonga California. He went to Etiwanda High School, back when it was brand new, where he was drum major for two years and graduated from there in 1988. After Etiwanda, he marched with the RCC Marching Band for three years. He took some time off of school, but returned in 1996 to Cal State San Bernardino where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree, with an emphasis in Music Education.
His first teaching job was as a choir director, at Concord High School, in Concord California, in 2001.
Mr. Yanik returned to Southern California where he taught at Chaffey High School as their band director from 2002-2015. After many accomplishments he made the decision to leave Chaffey and join us here at Don Antonio Lugo High School in the fall of 2015. He now teaches at Don Antonio Lugo High School, as well as the advanced band at Ramona Junior High.
